Nationally, 3,513 new manufactured homes were shipped in December 2012. That is down 8.5 percent from December 2011. Compared with the prior year, 2012 recorded shipment increases every month from January through August. While September through December were all down compared to the same months in 2011, the 2012 year end totals were 54,891 compared to 51,606 during the same time frame in 2011.

Unlike the national trend, Indiana saw a 65.4% increase in shipments for December 2012 over December 2011, and on an even brighter note Indiana saw 2012 end with a 43.2% increase over 2011. Indiana’s production of manufactured homes showed a slight increase with 4,630 homes produced January through December of 2012 compared to 4,530 homes produced through the same time in 2011, a 2.2% increase.
